Here are some ways to make sure you know what you’re doing!
Pinterest Check
If you’re not sure about the palette you are going for, try checking online for cute color palettes or combinations to ease your mind from overthinking. You can go on Pinterest and just search “color palette” and you’ll get thousands of results. Here you get a general idea of what normally goes well together or not.
Here’s the first look! Got this idea from seeing this cute palette on Pinterest!
Getting inspired by nature
There are so many different colors mixing and matching around us! During pink sky sunsets, walking in the park, or the colors of plants and flowers!
This second look is inspired by popular summer colors I’ve seen on the beach, I’ve combined the colors pink, green, and yellow.
Getting to know the color wheel (again)
To be extra sure you know what you’re doing whenever you’re mixing and matching outfits, it doesn’t hurt to relearn how to use the color wheel! To create color combinations, you may either go analogous, complementary, or triadic.
Analogous colors are three shades of colors that are right beside each other on the color wheel;
Complementary colors are colors that are directly opposite with each other;
Triadic are colors that are equally spaced on the color wheel;
In this outfit, I followed an analogous palette, using the colors blue, green, and yellow. Combining three colors doesn’t mean combining three different pieces together, you may use statement accessories to allow the right amount of color to your outfit!

I think it’s important that we let our creative juices flow every day. After all, as we all say: “’earth’ without ‘art’ is just ‘eh’”. Art isn’t just about drawing or painting. It can be a lot of things! For instance, it can be playing an instrument, singing, dancing, and etcetera. I have two hobbies that foster creativity that I really enjoy and have been exercising almost every single day since quarantine started.
My first hobby is creating art. From drawing black line illustrations to creating handwritten typography, activities like these really help keep my creative juices flowing and also make me happy. I really like using writing materials such as calligraphy markers and the Crayola super tips whenever I draw since they’re very beginner friendly and easy to find!
The other activity or hobby that I really love is playing the ukulele. Just a quick and funny back story, I really wanted to learn how to play the guitar when I was young. However, my fingers were just too short! I can’t even play the C major chord without having finger cramps because I couldn’t properly reach the fret! One day, my dad came home with a ukulele and gave it to me. He told me that I should just think of it as a guitar for people with tiny hands like me! Who would’ve thought that I’d love the sound it makes even more than the guitar. You best be sure that you’ll catch me chilling on the beach with my ukulele once the quarantine is over!
I think that activities such as these are very important because these promote mental and emotional wellness. Remember when adult coloring books were a thing back then? Yeah, it was said that coloring actually helps lessen stress and anxiety! Just like the infamous adult coloring books, these hobbies of mine not only help foster my creativity but also aid in my emotional and mental state. What about you? What are your favorite activities or hobbies that foster creativity? We’d love to hear about them down in the comments section below!

Q: What is your business and why did you start it?
I sell thrifted and preloved clothing online and I also offer hair and makeup services both via Instagram pages. I started them because I wanted to offer my passion for fashion and makeup to those who are not so familiar or comfortable doing them yet on their own. Of course, extra income doing things I love is an added bonus too, right?
Q: As a businesswoman or a woman in general, what makes you feel empowered?
What makes me feel empowered is knowing that I can make a significant change in the way people perceive makeup and thrift shopping. Another thing that empowers me is being able to give advice to others and become a go-to for them when talking about these! Finally, empowerment comes from the confidence I’ve gained throughout the experiences I’ve had aside from fashion and make up.
Q: What do you wear or how do you dress to help you feel confident?
I wear outfits that make me feel at ease but also show my personality. Classy and elegant with a pop of color, if I may. Also, wearing makeup massively boosts my confidence because I feel like I look more presentable and well put together. It completes and shows the extra effort into the look!
Thank you to Via Arboleda for sharing a glimpse of her passions for fashion and makeup. Shop a similar look with Susto’s Rex Printed Dress for Php 899 on our website or Zalora.

Q: What is your business and why did you start it?
My mother was a great home cook and had the most delicious recipes that has been considered a tradition in our family. Why keep these special and delicious family recipes within the confines of our family? We decided to share these recipes with our friends and their friends who immediately fell in love with these dishes. Many came back for more and we knew that this was not only an opportunity for profit but an avenue to share happiness in a plate.
Q: As a businesswoman or a woman in general, what makes you feel empowered?
We do things in integrity, even in the food business! Everything organic. From the ingredients to the processes, e.g. we make sure that we do not use preservatives or anything artificial for our food. Why? One should have a thrust for authenticity. After all, that is the touch of a mother! It is in her authentic love that a child finds comfort and home and that is precisely where I find my feminine empowerment.
Q: What do you wear or how do you dress to help you feel confident?
I'm confident when I am comfortable. Workout clothes are my go-to attire to get me ready for the physical needs in the kitchen, at the gym, or for whatever's needed for me in the day.
Shop comfortable yet chic pieces, like this black Hulya Top and the Shan Blouse, that scream ‘Let’s get down to business’ on our website and Zalora. Marked down prices are waiting for you!

In Tokyo, there is a known “fashion street” wherein people from all over the world buy clothes, and it is Takeshita Street, Harajuku more so that Harajuku station is between Shibuya and Shinjuku in Yamanote line. It is considered as the focal point of fashion in Japan since there are a lot of trendy independent stores, vintage shops, famous brands, reseller stores, and many more.

]]>Q1: Tell us about your advocacy. When did it start and how do you live it out?
I advocate for diversity and inclusion. It started when I was a freshman in college and I was exposed to different groups of people that shared different beliefs, lifestyles and cultures.
Q2: Why pick this advocacy?
As part of the community, it is essential to value the voice of each member — especially the marginalized group. By active listening, we’d be able to understand and learn from each other.
Q3: What are some challenges this advocacy has been facing?
The alarming invalidation of the Black Lives Matter Movement with the statement “all lives matter”.
Q4: In what ways can people manifest their support for your cause?
The best way is to stay educated and empathetic. Asides from that, they can actively support groups by donating, volunteering or promoting.
Q5: As someone who’s part of the #WOMEN Series, how would you want to use your platform in a way other people may be of benefit to it?
As an influencer, I make sure to work with brands that share the same advocacy. Aside from growing with them, my goal is to build relationships with our audience to create a safe space.
We thank Justine Rae Simeon (IG: @duuhrling) for participating in our #WOMEN Series: an ever-flowing conversation with influencers about what is needed to be addressed and talked about — of what women need. Comment down below your advocacy and how you live it!
Here is a must try healthy morning waffle recipe!
]]>
With almost everyone doing the Chloe Ting challenge to achieve that post quarantine glow up, it’s no mystery that everyone wants to start eating healthy too. Since breakfast is indeed the most important meal, it’s vital that we start the day with something healthy yet very filling and tasty!
One of my favorite breakfast foods are waffles drenched in sweet maple syrup. But let’s be real, they aren’t the ideal meal for nutrition. Since I didn’t want to say goodbye to my sweet waffles, I decided to make them healthy instead!
This recipe just needs 3 ingredients and an optional 2!
It calls for:
2 bananas
2 eggs
½ cup regular oatmeal
1 tsp of honey (optional)*
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)*
Just mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and pour them onto your waffle maker! If you don’t have a waffle maker (like most of us), don’t worry! Just make pancakes instead! But if you are making pancakes, make sure to let the batter sit for at least 5 minutes before cooking so that they don’t crumble when you try to flip them.
This recipe makes 4 servings with only 129 calories per serving! This never fails to make me and my tummy happy! It’s healthy, filling, and yummy. It’s the perfect meal to start the day if I do say so myself! If you try this recipe out, let us know how it was for you in the comment section below!
]]>(Etta Envelope Bag available in black and white)
What else are we waiting for? Let’s head on and talk about the essential things your bag should be carrying around, anytime and anywhere.
Carrying a bag that can hold your mobile phone is definitely a no-brainer. Let’s all be real. A mobile phone is a must these days since it carries all the applications we use in our day to day lives. Not only that, but it carries necessary information (contact numbers) ourselves can sometimes have a difficulty remembering. So ladies, be sure to have bags that can carry your mobile phones! This way, you don’t necessarily need to always be holding your phone in your hands.
May it be a wallet or a coin purse, a bag must always be able to fit at least a cardholder! How are you gonna be able to shop til you drop without your cash or cards on you, right? Remember girls, invest in fashion bag pieces but invest in those which can at least fit your mobile phone and cash!
Now, I know not everybody drives around but I am pretty sure everybody lives in a residential home right? Let’s not get stuck out of our homes and vehicles shall we? With this, make sure your bags can handle your keys! Not only would it be very inconvenient to have your keys dangling on your fingers, but having your keys in your bag takes away the risk of you losing them.
Well there’s that! What do you think of my top 3 bag essentials? Share yours and comment down below!
]]>Maybe you noticed some trending camera tricks too! Well, I decided to try three tricks to test if it was a hassle as it looked. I sure had a lot of fun seeing how they turned out though. Check them out!
Yes. I had to carry my bulky mirror down the stairs and out the door. I had to angle the mirror (and myself) a whole lot of ways to achieve a not so awkward shot. I like how this one turned out because the natural lighting gave me a halo effect. I’ll take an angel look any day! This trick is perfect for showing off your cute top or just needing that extra brightness from the sun. Because the less editing the better.
I saw this camera trick meant for food. But hey! Whatever works to get that Instagram-worthy shot. All you have to do is lay your phone on the edge of any flat surface just a few feet high. This could be a table, a chair, or a cabinet even. You can even secure it with a little weight. Then crawl right under there, as silly as it sounds. Try this out if you like a blurred and focused effect. I think I had my own Ariana Grande Music Video moment with this one. You be the judge.
(My view)
I always wondered what it would be like to have a spotlight on me on stage. Who knew it could be done at home? This camera trick has taken the social media world by storm. Maybe it deserves its own spotlight. Ever wondered the purpose of the toilet roll core? I think it was made for this very moment… a photoshoot opportunity obviously. Just attach the tube over the flashlight of your phone and shoot in the dark. Bring out the fierce side in you!
If you have time to read this article, then you have time to try these trending camera tricks. It might take a bit of effort and planning but I bet your followers will ask how you pulled off such bomb shots. Show off your creative side then tag @sustothelabel on Instagram or @susto on Facebook when you try any of these tricks.

I tend to go to thrift shops before my school year starts, or whenever I feel like I need a new set of outfits to wear. Now there are a lot of thrift shops that are known like Cubao Expo, Anonas, and Tagaytay, although I have this one place that really holds dear to me because the prices they offer is really cheap, plus some items there are exported from different countries. This special place is located in Junction, Cainta Rizal.
It is hidden inside a market or “Palengke”, and once you enter you will see how big it is, and the huge amount of products they are selling, So as I entered, I really spent so much time digging and looking at each and every product they offering, because sometimes there are hidden gems. As much as possible wear comfortable clothes so it is easier for you to try on certain things, and thrift shops do not have any air conditioner, so it is easy for you to get sweaty because of the heat. So when it comes to bargaining for a lower price, do not hesitate to tell the vendor how much you want for it, because eventually they will either say yes to your price, or both of you will compromise to a certain price that you guys will be comfortable with. More so that when you buy in bulk, they will most likely give you a best price for it.
The vendors in the thrift shops are very kind and helpful, so do not forget to always smile, and have a short conversation with them. So in this specific thrift shop, I was able to buy 9 different outfits (Blazers, flare pants, polos, vintage tees, corduroy jackets, and etc.), and a trunk full of goodies for only One Thousand Pesos. As compared to the other thrift shops I went, they offer the cheapest price. Don’t get me wrong, I also shop in the thrift stores I mentioned a while ago, it is just that the prices they offer are sometimes higher compared to the one in Junction. As an example, the store in Anonas sells blazers for around 350 pesos or higher each. On the other hand in Junction, blazers cost 100 pesos each, same goes for other clothing apparel.
In addition to that, other thrift stores I have been to, the prices aren’t really negotiable, so it is harder to bargain with the vendors. It depends on you which thrift stores you really love since we all have different preferences, and that not all thrift stores offer the same kinds of products. Lastly, please do not forget to wash the clothes you bought, since you do not know where it came from.
Now that you know my secret thrift shop location, share your thrifting experiences so as your tips and tricks when thrift shopping by commenting down below!

Affogato
Don’t get too intimidated by the name, the affogato coffee only requires two ingredients! This is the perfect drink after a nice dinner.
Ingredients:
1-2 Scoops of Ice Cream (Vanilla, Chocolate, or Coffee flavoured ice cream)
1 Shot of Espresso or about 45 ml of brewed coffee

Nutella Mocha with Almond Milk.
A nice way to change up your usual Cafe Mocha!
Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons of Nutella
1-2 shots of espresso
1 Cup of Almond milk
Procedure:
Start with adding your two tablespoons of Nutella in your coffee cup.
Pour in your shot/s of espresso and let the chocolate melt and stir the coffee with the chocolate.
Next is to heat your milk! There are two ways, first is, if you have [ ], steam your milk until it gets foamy. Another way to do it is to pour your milk in a microwavable container, heat until it's really hot, and to shake the container until you see the foam.
Slowly pour in your milk with your coffee and enjoy!
You may add some whip cream, drizzle some additional Nutella or add some cacao powder!
One of the best ways to enjoy your milk is with coffee! For our last cup of coffee, it is the Iced Almond Milk Latte. Another super easy recipe that is fosho, Instagram worthy for your feed or your stories!
Ingredients:
1 Cup of brewed coffee
1 Cup of Almond Milk
Simple syrup which is 1 cup of sugar and water that is heated until it dissolves (you may use your microwave or a saucepan to heat your syrup)
Bring out an ice cube tray and pour in your brewed coffee.
Add in your syrup to your tray, make sure that the syrup is evenly distributed.
Leave the coffee to ice up in the freezer for about 3 to 4 hours (or until it freezes).
When the coffee ice cubes are ready, throw in about 4 to 6 cubes in a glass or a coffee cup and warm up your almond milk. Once milk is ready, pour it in and enjoy!
Q1: Tell us about your advocacy. When did it start and how do you live it out?
I advocate for quality learning and education for every child. I wish for every boy and girl to receive a good quality education and learn the skills they will need to thrive in the 21st century. To live out this advocacy, I’ve spent my time involving myself in school organizations like Barefoot Philippines. Through this organization, I was given the opportunity to interact with the Aeta people in Barefoot Philippines' partner community, Katutubo Village. I was deeply moved by their reality. Through my visits, I’ve supported their community by spreading awareness, respecting, and sharing in their stories as we take part in an afternoon of music and arts that fittingly celebrates equity and hope on. We also interact with the Aeta children by teaching them how to draw, speak, and play games.
Q2: Why pick this advocacy?
I grew up with a little brother who struggled as a “late talker.” So, my sister and I helped him by conversing with him every day, and eventually, he improved. This was kinda a wakeup call or realization to me because what if other children in the world don’t have access to books, the internet, or other kinds of resources to improve their learning? How will they be able to thrive in the future?
Q3: What are some challenges this advocacy has been facing?
One of the key issues for extending 'quality education' is the limited resources one’s country might have. Such as limited financial resources, institutions, teachers. Unfortunately, not every family can afford to provide their children the same kind of education other people couls. This also becomes an issue because our future depends on our learning when we were younger. And if not everyone has access to it what kind of future are we creating?
Q4: In what ways can people manifest their support for your cause?
Through being active and outspoken. To use their voice in social media to support this advocacy’s cause. Our voices can serve as a powerful tool, especially in this time and age. I believe we must learn how to actively speak for others who can’t speak for themselves
Q5: As someone who’s part of the #WOMEN Series, how would you want to use your platform in a way other people may be of benefit to it?
As I said, being active and outspoken is really important for me, especially now that social media holds power when it comes to disseminating information. As someone who is of influence, I would like to give those who feel voiceless and powerless a platform wherein they would not hesitate in voicing out their opinions and reactions to certain societal issues that they all have a say in. I aspire to be an inspiration not only in fashion but also in advocacies and causes that will truly make changes in this world.

Putting on foundation maybe a little too much when you're just working from home. Most likely, you’d also want to keep your face breathing throughout the day. As an alternative, using a tinted moisturizer or sunscreen is just the perfect balance of bare skin and a foundation filled face.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 25 (Php 2,050) — With its light but buildable coverage, it feels as if you’re not wearing anything at all. Plus, you want that extra coverage? No problem!
Belo Tinted SunScreen with SPF 50 (Php 425) — This affordable yet effective product feels very light on the skin. One of its main features is protecting you from UV ray exposures you might get from being in front of your computer screen most of your days.
Cheek tint is probably the best friend anyone can get from makeup products. This pick helps bring back the life on your face with ease! Smile, swipe some on your cheeks, and you’re gonna look as if you haven’t been stressing all week. Using this as a replacement for your eyeshadow look is also an option! Not only will it bring extra color on your face, but also your no-makeup look will be put together even more.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Sunnies Face Blush Tint (Php 495) — With its natural but buildable pigment, this product certainly helps in bringing back color to your cheeks. A little swipe on your lids and your look will be perfect!
Colourette Colourtint Fresh in Nia (Php 249) — This affordable tint provides the perfect amount of subtlety for your work from home set up. It’s perfect for enhancing your natural tones!
What is makeup without a little fun on the lips? While lip tints are fun and just enough to give that perfect shade on your lips, you may still use your go-to lipstick! Apply a small amount on your lips and touch up with your fingers.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
MAC Velvet Teddy (Php 1,100) — A cult favorite and lipstick classic that almost certainly guarantees an MLB moment!
Sunnies Face Lip Dip Posh (Php 395) — An affordable lip product which creates this beautiful mauve tint without making your lips too dark.
To give you that dewy look, especially on camera, put on some highlighter for a little glow. You may even add some shine on your eyes for that extra oomph on your work from home look.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Fenty Beauty Highlighter Trippin from their Matchstix Trio (Php 3,300) — This high-end product applies very smoothly on the lips. It gives the right amount of shine for the day!
Colourpop Luster Dust Loose Highlighter in Strobe Globe (Php 550) — When a little glitter goes a long way! The Colourpop highlighter allows you to achieve that champagne shimmer look even when you’re at home.
To have your eyebrows on fleek is always a must, even when you’re at home. While we still can’t go out and have our eyebrows shaped, surely some eyebrow makeup can help create that shape and illusion.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Disney x Happy Skin Perfect Eyes Trio (Php 899.00) — This 3-in-1 product: the matte eyeshadow, the eyebrow pencil, and the three-prong trident felt-tip, allows you to mimic the brow hairs shape for a more natural look!
Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow + Brow-Volumizing Gel (Php 1,660) — A cult favorite, this brow makeup can really add color and volume to your eyebrows. With its buildable pigment, you can create a glam or natural look!

With the abundance of cookies and cinnamon rolls that are flooding my Instagram timeline every single day, I can’t help but feel that the crowd favorite banana bread isn’t getting the attention it truly deserves. Well because of this, I’ve decided to whip out my mom’s healthy banana bread recipe and added some dark chocolate chunks which contain no butter or oil, no added sugar, no gluten and no grain. Oh, and did I mention that it’s only 110 calories per serving? If that doesn’t make you love banana bread even more, I don’t know what will.
The star ingredient of this recipe is chickpea flour or Garbanzo bean flour! Okay, I know that it sounds weird because you might think “chickpea in my banana bread? No way!” but hang with me for a moment while I explain…
Chickpea flour is inexpensive, nutritious since it’s packed with fiber (6g per serving) and protein (5g per serving), and it’s naturally gluten free! Isn’t that just amazing? The flour is naturally sweet as well so it really helps since this recipe will use no sugar at all! All that sweetness will come naturally from the bananas and the flour!
With all that being said, here’s the recipe! If you do decide to try the recipe out, let us know how it went on the comments section down below!

I don’t know about you, but tucking in my shirt and rolling up my sleeves always makes me feel like I could be a professional stylist. Or at least styled by one. This simple graphic tee tip never fails to make your outfit a little more chic and a little less shabby. And if you want to show off your figure, then the tuck and roll is the way to go.
You spent all that money to make a statement with your graphic tee. Show it off! Opt for an updo and let your t-shirt bask in all its glory. They say you can know a person based on what they wear. Can’t you tell that I love a good and empowering movie like The Devil Wears Prada?
Ditch the usual pants and leggings. Every now and then, a graphic tee deserves a little oomph, don’t you think? If you have a skirt just sitting at the back of your closet, this is the time to take it out! Just make sure it won’t take too much attention from your tee, just like this buttoned-down denim skirt. If you’re more comfortable with shorts, go for it and don’t forget to tuck and roll!
I love a good high heels moment. If you want to give your look a little kick (pun intended), your favorite heels will definitely do the trick. Your tee says comfortable but your kicks say you’re ready to conquer the day. Not into pumps? Add your favorite accessories like a black purse or a jewelry drip to glam up your look.
Styling your graphic tee has never been as easy as 1, 2, 3… 4. Now your t-shirts are not just for loungewear but for days out. Stay comfortable yet fashionable! Share your favourite style tip in the Comments section below!
]]>Do you wonder if the people at the gym doing the same cardio lose weight? For some people, doing the same cardio exercises are effective in weight loss or maintenance, while for some, they are having a dilemma with dealing with “Plateau”. Plateau refers to a sudden decrease in the results of your regular workouts. It may be because you do the same workout every day, or that you are training so hard that your body needs to rest.
To help you have a more effective cardio training, I will be introducing you to HIIT, or also called as High-Intensity Interval Training. The difference between a HIIT training and the normal cardio training is that HIIT training forces you to up the intensity of your workout in a short period, on the other hand for the normal cardio training it rations and helps you store your energy for you to last longer in your workouts.
HIIT Training is an intense cardio session that incorporates short bursts of various workouts in a short span of time. It's a combination of a 20-45-minute-high intensity workout and a low-intensity rest. If you are too lazy to do cardio or bored that you always do the same cardio every day, HIIT can certainly help you mix up your cardio training and at the same time your strength training.
Resting periods between each set also play a vital role in the training. The combination of both levels helps with fat loss due to the immense shifts, from both levels, the body undergoes. The workouts, which include bodyweight or added weights, will not only spike up your heart rate, but also help you shred your muscles and fats, and speed up your metabolism. It will also help you in muscle endurance, and strength development.
In addition to that, your oxygen capacity will increase. Now you do not need to do HIIT every day, you can work out at least 3 times a week for 20 minutes minimum and 45 minutes maximum.
I know this type of training is a little bit more challenging, but give it a try and maybe you won't regret it. To get you started, here is a free workout routine from www.self.com. Let us know how it went by commenting in the comments section down below.

I’ve grown tired of this never-ending summer cycle, so I took it upon myself to research and purchase products that are super lightweight which not only prevented that “post skin care sweat” every summer but also helped me achieve clear and glowy skin!
My morning routine is super short and simple with only 3 to 4 steps. I mean let’s be real, nobody has the time to do their Korean 10 step skin care routine every morning especially during the summer. Why have 10 steps when you can have 3 steps that work just the same?
To start, my favorite toner is the cult favorite Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner. On a cotton ball, I splash a few drops of the toner and then gently swipe it all over my face. This just gets rid of the leftover dirt which wasn’t taken care of by my cleanser. Next up, I moisturize using the Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion. This is my holy grail moisturizer because it’s super light but super moisturizing! It contains birch sap too so it helps with calming the skin, which is perfect for summer! Next up is probably the most important step in a morning routine: sunscreen! I use Face Republic’s Super Screen Sun Gel and this sunscreen is perfect for the summer because it’s not sticky and heavy unlike other brands. It doesn’t leave a white cast too so that’s a huge plus! It’s important to put on sunscreen every day. Yes, you heard me. Every day. That includes days when you’re just at home. Why do you ask? Well, the sun shows up through your windows too and without protection, your skin might just age way faster than you think. Who wants wrinkles and saggy skin at a young age am I right? On the days I have red spots or irritation, I put a small dot of the Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream on the affected area. It contains centella asiatica which is super good for treating inflammation and irritation which we often get when it’s too hot. After that, I go on with my day without breaking a sweat while applying my skin care products!
These products really help me save so much time in my morning routine and it also leaves my skin clear and glowy. It’s super perfect for the summer because it’s lightweight and the products contain a lot of calming properties. If you try these products out, let us know how it was for you in the comment section below!

We have several new skirts from the #SUSTOSUMMER20 Collection launch but the Rosie Floral Skirt is my favorite. I love how the dainty white flowers just soften the boldness of the red. The ruffles on this mini skirt also make the piece comfortable and did I mention that it’s mid-rise? Meaning it hugs your body in just the right places for a little tuck.
Blue is such a flattering color on everyone and the Leila Stripe Dress just proves this once again. It shows off your curves up top then relaxes into an A-line skirt. It also has adjustable straps that literally got your back. This is such a light and breathable dress that will flow effortlessly with you throughout your busy day.
The Hera Top has been Susto’s staple since the Summer Collection launch and that’s a promise. It’s so versatile that you can pair it with any bottom and you can even dress it up or dress it down. The V-neckline is so flattering and the button detailing gives it a little extra so it’s not just your typical sleeveless top. And again, adjustable straps! We also have a range of colors: white, peach, light blue, and navy blue.
Stay comfortable yet stylish with these summer pieces. So what are you waiting for? Shop the Rosie Floral Skirt, the Leila Stripe Dress, and the Hera Top now! Each item is only less than Php 800. ]]>Q1: Tell us about your advocacy. When did it start and how do you live it out?
SUSTO was built on the philosophy that women can do anything. Being a female-founded and female-lead company since 2008, it continues to live by this belief. “By women, for women” is definitely the internal mantra of our company. It’s a quality and characteristic that we think our customer really admires—women helping other women—and that happens to be one of our biggest causes.
In our world, our mission is to empower the modern girl to make moves by making refined style truly accessible. We truly believe in the power of bringing like-minded, intelligent women together with experiences that enrich their lives.
#WOMENTHRIVE started during international women’s month last year as a celebration of womanhood —how women are bold, fearless, and brilliant in all ways.
Susto is actually a pangasinense term meaning it fits or sakto. Our brand philosophy is to take the work out of dressing up. Us hardworking women we’re so busy working for our dreams. That’s why make clothes that are timeless, wrinkle free and effortless that will last in your clothes for years and years
Q2: Why pick this advocacy?
We want to create a community that feels like the antithesis of the male-dominated stereotype. We have a lot of empathy for this customer, because we are this customer. As I said, Susto means it fits or sakto and that’s what we want our clothes to be—fit and perfect for the modern girl. We know how the modern girl shops. She’s really ambitious, forward-thinking and has a lot of other things pulling at her resources— she’s taking trips, she’s deciding if she can go out to dinner three times this week or buy a new piece she loves. She’s doing a lot of things. We wanted to make sure that the last thing they want is to worry about what to wear.
Q3: What are some challenges this advocacy has been facing?
The brand prides itself on fostering an authentic community of modern women whose shared values include travel, discovery, and refined style. As we’ve learned from our own community, the idea of women thriving can mean many different things to many different people. But our main goal is for women to help out each other. I think the way fashion ties into feminism is foremost by empowering a woman to be the best version of herself. Our values as a company really embody that spirit, as everything we do is in service of her.
Fashion is also one of the few industries that are largely dominated by women, though unfortunately, it’s rarely in positions of senior leadership. I think the more that those environments can foster a culture of mentorship — women helping create more opportunities for other women — that addresses many of the ideals that are core to feminism.
Q4: In what ways can people manifest their support for your cause?
I’m continually impressed by the incredible women that make up our community. These are women that are building companies, starting families, trying new things, and constantly growing — but they know how to have fun and look stylish while doing it. The opportunity to interact with these women and hear their stories is easily one of the best parts of what I do. At the end of the day, Susto is meant to be a place where women can also meet other like-minded women and be a part of our greater community.
For us women to help each other, we can manifest this by creating a community where women can collaborate and develop relationships, helping each other to achieve their goals. We’ve spent a lot of time cultivating our customers and community through really personal interactions and events, and they’ve been such an amazing platform for women to network and get to know one another.
Q5: As someone who’s part of the #WOMEN Series, how would you want to use your platform in a way other people may be of benefit to it?
With the resurgence of feminism as a huge topic of conversation within the fashion industry, coupled with our mission to demonstrate how creativity can contribute to some of these larger conversations we are working to craft thoughtful collections of apparel, and accessories, that cater to the modern woman and her lifestyle. When it comes to our assortment, that translates into ensuring our products are accessible in price to reflect our respect for how hard she works for her money; and that they’re refined and polished to project how she wants to be seen. We want our customers to feel that sense of self-confidence and be providing the “power” she needs every morning when she gets ready to face her day.
In terms of the larger conversation, fashion has in general always been a really incredible platform to shine a spotlight on women. The more that women are elevated into conversations that give us a deeper look into their personal and professional lives, the better off we all are in understanding that perspective.
Doing self-portraits creates a liberating feeling within yourself. It frees you from the fear of being judged by what you are doing in front of the camera. Self-portraits allow you to get to know yourself better as there are things you realize only through performing this process. Through experimentation, you learn how to work with a camera, your best angles and poses. To see a good photo of you then fosters great self-confidence within yours truly. Having the feeling of a self-approved photo of yourself is probably one like no other. It brings out much creativity in you through the improvisation skills needed to pull off your self-portrait/self-care session. Self-care? That’s something you’ll figure out when you try it for yourself!
So what are you waiting for? Don't you wanna get that extra boost of confidence within you? Besides, I'm sure a lot of us already miss getting dressed up. So, have yourself a natural look or get glammed up, for it doesn't take much to produce your very own self-portraits. All you need is a camera, — the rest you can improvise within the four corners of your house!

How did you get to where you are now?
I think passion & perseverance is what made me get to where I am now as an artist. With a combination of loving what I do, working for it, never stopping despite having days when you don’t feel like working, and prayers really help. Also, I never stop learning about my craft because I believe there is still so much to learn & improve on.
What’s the best advice you could give to the modern woman?
Don’t let anyone tell you or dictate to you what you can or can’t do - because you are capable of anything as long as you put your mind & soul into it. You are stronger & more capable of so many things you just have to believe that you are & you’re half way there.
What’s next for this woman?
I plan to really pursue my paintings & if God permits, have exhibits abroad & solo exhibits here in Manila. Also, I would like to venture into make-up and post make-up videos - so I can say that I paint faces & canvases.
The woman I look up to is...
My mom. She is the superwoman of my life. Without her, I wouldn’t be who I am today. She is the one who inspired me to do what I am doing today because she is very artistic herself. She can do almost everything & she guides me in life. One day I want to be as strong, dedicated, hard working & well-rounded just like her!
What’s your go to Susto piece? Why?
I think that would be their dresses & their unique tops because I can’t find it anywhere but in their store. I just really love the shape & how it flatters the body!
What does it mean to you to be a SUSTO woman?
To be a SUSTO woman is to be headstrong with all your decisions, to know what you really want in life & at the same time to have the right amount of self-love to be able to balance everything... all the aspects of your life.

People in relation to fashion are generally categorized into two forms – people who like it and people who simply, don’t. Those who believe in it see fashion as an outlet of self-expression and freedom. For the other half, quite frankly, I wouldn’t know exactly. Style on the other hand is something that we all have internally. It is the reflection of the things we believe, the things we do, and how we want to portray ourselves whether intentionally or subliminally.
As someone who has been dabbling in different forms of fashion my whole life, I have learned not only about what looks good with what, but also how we can take these little footnotes of positivity that can transcend into our daily lives through the clothes we want to wear and how we wear them.
And the greatest footnote of all? Confidence.
I’ve seen gorgeous models beyond insecure about who they are and I’ve seen people who dress in costume-like outfits being the liveliest and most creative people I’ve ever met. The only real difference between them was the fact that there was one side that didn’t care about what people said about them and another that did. It seemed to reflect courage and fear as two concepts to me – how much it challenges people.
From here, I took another footnote. This time, about not letting the kinks you have be a hindrance to your everyday life, but rather finding a way to make those weird things about you beautiful through strategic accentuation. If you don’t understand what I mean here, then look at all the people you know who don’t necessarily fit beauty standards, but look good anyway.
THE CARMI TOP
In terms of dressing up, these two footnotes are the main points you need to remember. It doesn’t matter if you want to wear an old tattered shirt or the newest Prada bag, all of that is just preference. The real essence of being stylish is something that comes from within. It is the idea that you are the sole proprietor of who you are and what you wear, with courage. It seems that there is a level of fear associated with dressing up and it should never be the case. People have invented a margin to style but the truth is, even if you don’t like fashion, your style is something you can’t escape. Whether you decide to own it or not is mainly your choice.
Ultimately, the reason why I am writing this as my first article before I head unto lighter topics is because all of my secrets to fashion, beauty, and whatnot would be useless if you do not take this first article into consideration. Please do remember the old cliché, “It’s not about the clothes you wear, but how you wear it.”
